Laid Back Surf-Style in Cornwall

Summer holidays in the UK are on the rise, with many preferring to stay at home as opposed to jetting off to far-flung destinations, and who can blame them with the huge range of resorts right here on our doorstep?

For something very akin to a European destination, with an abundance of laid-back charm, Newquay is a firm favourite. Cornwall’s hugely popular resort is a beach lover’s dream, and it’s surprisingly easy to get to, be it via road, train or plane. I’d seriously recommend looking into flying to Newquay, as the drive can be lengthy and traffic adds to stress before you even get there. You can even add extras to your travel plans, to make it even easier – all without breaking the bank.

I recently stayed at one of the Gatwick airport hotels with parking combined, and found the whole experience fantastic value for money, not to mention cutting my stress levels down to zero. I’d highly recommend it.

Once you’re settled in Newquay, you’ll find it such a chilled-out town, it’s hard not to be affected by it. For a break from the madness of the city, or just a few days away from the stresses of work, Newquay is the ideal place. Think laid-back surfer dudes, and you’re not far off.

Speaking of surfing, Newquay is probably the best spot for surfing in the UK, with many surf schools if you fancy giving it a go. Fistral Beach is famous, not only for the surfing element, but also because it’s wild waters are really stunning, with a backdrop of green hills. There are many beaches around Newquay, so you’ll find one to suit, with Great Western Beach a good one for families wanting a day’s sandcastle building and safe splashes.

Newquay isn’t all beaches, water-sports and surfing, there are many beautiful coastal walks around the area, with rugged cliffs, wild sea and green hills – I’d really recommend you remember your camera, especially for the stunning sunsets. For natural beauty, I’d suggest jumping on a bus trip down to Land’s End. It may have the tourist factor, with a visitor’s centre and a few tacky souvenirs, but the beauty of the area can’t be ignored.

Back in Newquay itself, why not head to Newquay Harbour, or Trenance Gardens for a quiet walk by the lake, a yummy cream tea or a Cornish pasty, and watch the world go by? Alternatively, Newquay Zoo is a great day out for the family. Back in the town centre, Blue Reef Aquarium is a must-do for anyone into sea-life.

When night falls, Newquay comes alive, with vibrant bars and clubs to party the night away. If that’s not for you, head to the harbour, to one of the excellent sea-food restaurants, or watch the sun-set on a chilled-out walk. If you’re staying at one of the local holiday parks, there’ll also be cabaret-style entertainment for all the family.

The UK boasts many fantastic summer holiday resorts, yet for some reason we often overlook them. A break in Newquay is accessible to all, and if you go for the flying option, remember to check out extras to enhance your travel plans and make the whole affair much easier. Airport hotels are available at most major airports, and I’ve stayed at a couple when flying from Manchester Airport, so check out the range available, including Bewley’s Hotel Manchester Airport, with great rates on offer, or Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport, offering equally great facilities and prices.

Remember, summer holidays don’t always have to be overseas; we have some jewels of our own.

Admiring the persistence you put into your website and in depth information you provide.

It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t
the same out of date rehashed material. Great read!
I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

I am just torn in between buying a large coffee table and having several little side tables for lamps etc.

Thoughts? Maybe this – living room furniture (stormfighter.net)?
