What’s on: Comedy in London

Some of the best names in comedy visit the capital all year round, and October is no different. Immerse yourself in a night of fun and laughter with comedians at the top of their game at various venues all over the city.

Make an evening of it and spend the night in one of the London hotels from Travelodge. Following an evening at the comedy, enjoy a good meal before painting the town red. With many hotels being found in ideal locations, you’ll never be too far from a comfortable bed for the night.

Arriving for shows at the O2 Arena between the 26th September and the 2nd October, the hugely popular comedian, Michael McIntyre, will be sure to draw in a massive audience as he has done on his previous sell out shows.

The youngest ever host of the Royal Variety Performance returns for his new hilarious show. Since his big break in 2006, he has appeared on numerous popular TV shows as well as presenting Live at the Apollo which showcases a diverse range of upcoming comedic stars.

With infinite energy and many rib-tickling gags, you’ll be sure to have a cracking night watching his amusing comedy.

If you can wait until November for a trip to the Big Smoke, make sure you catch the xenophobic humour of The Pub Landlord. With a brand new show, claiming to be of epic proportions, Al Murray returns to make sure your pint glass is categorically half full. You can see him at the Queen’s Theatre on 4th November.

The wisecracking genius of Jimmy Carr returns to London next year for what can be guaranteed to be a sensational tour. Returning with his new show, Gagging Order, he stops by both the HMV Apollo Hammersmith and the O2 Academy Brixton for dates in both April and May. Book now before it’s too late.

Paul Merton’s first stand up shows in 13 years will surely be a memorable one. Live at the Vaudeville Theatre between the 1st and 20th October, make the most of his re-emergence onto the live comedy circuit.

With his deadpan gags and his surreal and dark comedy, he is noted, amongst critics, as being one of the greatest comedians of all time. Pop over to his show this October and find out why he is credited with such an accolade.

You can also catch the animated personality of Russell Kane at the Hammersmith Apollo on 28th October as well as Alan Davies making a long awaited return to live comedy at Hackney Empire on the 12th November – his first show in over a decade.

Irish funnyman and Mock the Week host, Dara O’Brien, presents his latest your, “Craic Dealer” to the audience at the Hammersmith Apollo between the 18th and 27th October whilst the controversial comedy of Frankie Boyle arrives at the same venue between the 8th and 11th November.

Plenty of comedy is available to everyone who fancies an evening of laughs – be sure to book yourself some tickets followed by an evening in a hotel to make a thoroughly enjoyable night out in this vibrant city.
